What does it look like to put our faith into action in the business world?
Jon Hart is the Director of Praxis Academy, and Accelerator Manager at Praxis. Praxis is a venture group that equips and resources a growing portfolio of faith-motivated entrepreneurs and college students who have committed their lives to cultural and social impact. Their portfolio includes over 85 ventures, 100 entrepreneurs, and 200 college students, who are passionate about doing high-impact work around the globe. Prior to Praxis, Jon spent seven years at a Fortune 50 Company, where he helped launch a new venture and revive another; his operational expertise includes customer experience design, organizational leadership and brand management. He caught the entrepreneurial bug in 2012, and left the corporate world to pursue his own startup ideas. He has since been an Executive Producer of an indie film (The Little Tin Man - 2013), worked on building a like-minded startup community in NYC, London, & San Francisco, and served as an advisor to a handful of early-stage ventures. In addition to Praxis, Jon is a founding board member and current Chairman at 100cameras, a nonprofit that empowers marginalized children to be catalysts for change in their communities. He serves as an advisor, and expert-in-residence in Storytelling and Pitch Design at the Catapult Accelerator. Jon is a graduate of the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management. He lives in Manhattan where he serves in leadership at Trinity Grace Church.
Jessica Kim began her entrepreneurial career at the young age of 19 when she started a premium baked goods company from her college dorm room called Jessica’s Wonders, which grew into a multi-million dollar venture. She was then the Founder and CEO of BabbaCo, a parenting lifestyle brand and e-commerce subscription company that sent enriching activity boxes to families to create memorable moments in new ways. In December 2013, BabbaCo was acquired by Barefoot Books, a global children’s publisher. Jessica is currently the President of Barefoot Books with a mission to share stories, connect families, and inspire children. She was named Babble’s Top 40 Mompreneurs and Crain’s Business 40 under 40. Jessica graduated from Brown University and received her MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Previously, Jessica worked at Kraft Foods in BrandManagement. Jessica and her husband, Peter, live in Boston with their three active kids: Kayla (8), Grant (5), and Brandon (3).
Sebastian Traeger grew up outside of Philadelphia and graduated from Princeton University in 1996 with a degree in Politics. He moved to Washington, DC to work in business and has been an entrepreneur ever since, co-founding several companies including Village Phone in El Salvador, Christianity.com, Silas Partners, Razoo.com and his latest, FiveStreet.com. Calling on his business experience and love for the church, Sebastian co-authored The Gospel At Work, published in 2014. Sebastian’s heart in writing this book was to help Christians in the marketplace better understand God’s purposes behind their work. In addition to the book, Sebastian launched the Gospel At Work Conference Series. Through seven regional conferences, more that 4000 professionals have heard the message of the book articulated. Sebastian and his wife, Nikki, have three children, Alex (7), Wesley (5) and Analeigh (4). They are currently living in Richmond, where Sebastian serves as the Executive Vice President of the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.
